What is the difference between PubMed and PubMed Central?

Answer

PubMed and PubMed Central are free government resources and does not require a login. MEDLINE will require a login, and you must access that through either the CIIS Library website. You will then need to log in with your last name and CIIS ID number for access.

PubMed - (select full-text content)

PubMed comprises more than 27 million citations for biomedical literature from MEDLINE, life science journals, and online books. Citations may include links to full-text content from PubMed Central and publisher web sites.

PubMed Central - (full-text archive)

PubMed Central® (PMC) is a free full-text archive of biomedical and life sciences journal literature at the U.S. National Institutes of Health's National Library of Medicine (NIH/NLM).

You will find links to them in the A-Z Database List, here: https://library.ciis.edu/az.php

If there are articles you are interested in which full-text is not available in MEDLINE, you can request an Interlibrary Loan (ILL) here: https://180.account.worldcat.org/account/requests

Please read the Guide to ILL linked on the page to acquaint yourself with the procedures and policy.
