How and why should Faculty link Library resources on Syllabi and Canvas?

Answer

The Library has a wealth of resources that can be used for courses at CIIS. We are also continually adding new resources.

Uploading a personal copy of content (PDFs, scans, etc.) to Canvas means that the library doesn’t receive statistics on the use of our subscriptions. We use these usage stats when deciding whether to renew subscriptions.

Further, copyright issues arise when disseminating personal copies of resources.

Most resources can be found in the Library Catalog. From there click on the Share button to copy/paste the link into your syllabus/Canvas course page.

Note: Remember to check links each semester before sharing with students.

We also encourage faculty to fill out Readings @ the CIIS Library request form for all required reading materials that will be used in your course. We will provide the Library links for items in our collection for you, AND budget permitting, we will purchase books not currently in our collection. See links below.

Lots of articles not available at CIIS? Reach out to your program manager for more information about creating a course reader through the CIIS Bookstore TextBookX.

You can also put in a Purchase Suggestion form if there are important journals or articles that we should consider adding to our collections. New journal subscriptions are considered each fiscal year.
