What does this mean: "We are unable to get availability information for this item at your institution. Please speak with your librarian."

Answer

Message: We are unable to get availability information for this item at your institution. Please speak with your librarian.

This usually means that the CIIS Library subscribes to the journal that the article is found in, but not for the year that specific article is in. You can double-check our Journals List to verify our subscriptions. If we do not subscribe to the journal year you need, you can place a manual interlibrary loan request.

Example

Say you found this article and click on the title link to see the record:

May, R. (1994). 'The centre cannot hold' challenges in working psychodynamically in a college or university. Psychodynamic Counselling1(1), 5–20.

Notice this article is from 1994. You can check our Journals List to determine if we subscribe to this journal (Psychodynamic Counselling). After searching we see that the CIIS Library subscribes to the journal, but starting in 1998 which won't cover the article we are looking for from 1994.

When this happens you can put in a manual interlibrary loan request and we will ask another library that does own this article to provide a PDF copy on your behalf. To do so:

  • Log into your Library Catalog Account by using your CIIS email and password (the password is the same as that of your CIIS email).
  • Once logged in, from your "My Account" page click the “Requested” tab
    • OR from Catalog, click "My ILL Requests"
  • Click on Create Request button to create a new request.
  • Fill out all the form boxes with an *
