I used to be able to access a Library resource, but now it is unavailable. Why?

Answer

Some digital library materials are available via a yearly subscription. This means that while the subscription is active, the Library has access to those resources, but does not own them.

Sometimes the Library will need to cancel a subscription due to budgetary constraints or low usage.

Occasionally some titles will change publishers (particularly for journals). This can sometimes mean that a particular title will no longer be available via the platform that previously hosted it as it is moved to a different platform, or the new publisher has not agreed for the title to be hosted on any platform other than their own publisher page. We are often not informed when this happens and find out when our community lets us know that they no longer have access. We will try to see if our vendor can renegotiate a contract, or if the particular title is within our budget and of wide interest to the CIIS community to subscribe to individually. Do reach out to us! But unfortunately, we may not be able to regain access.
